September 2025 Back to School Project

Report on the 2025 September Back to School Project by Grass 2 Grace (G2G)

The 2025 September Back to School Project was a humanitarian education-support initiative organized and implemented by Grass 2 Grace (G2G) Humanitarian Organization in Bonaberi, Douala, Cameroon. The project was carried out at the beginning of the 2025–2026 academic year with the primary objective of supporting 500 vulnerable children, specifically orphans and internally displaced persons (IDPs), to enable them to resume school under dignified and supportive conditions.

Education remains one of the most affected sectors among displaced and orphaned children due to poverty, conflict, and social instability. Many children in these categories face barriers such as lack of school supplies, inability to pay basic school fees, and psychological distress caused by displacement. Recognizing these challenges, Grass 2 Grace designed the Back to School Project as a targeted intervention to reduce educational inequality and promote access to quality education for the most vulnerable.

The project was officially launched in September 2025 and took place at GBHS Bojongo Field in Bonaberi, a location accessible to a large number of displaced families. Through coordinated community outreach, beneficiary identification, and volunteer mobilization, the organization ensured that assistance reached children most in need. A total of 500 children, made up of orphans and IDPs, were selected as beneficiaries after a needs assessment conducted within affected communities.

During the event, G2G distributed free school kits to all beneficiaries. These kits included essential learning materials such as school bags, exercise books, pens, pencils, rulers, and other basic stationery required for effective participation in school activities. By providing these materials, the organization aimed to remove the immediate financial burden placed on caregivers and guardians, many of whom are struggling with unemployment and displacement-related hardships.

Beyond material support, the project also served as a platform for encouragement and psychosocial support. Volunteers and organizers interacted with the children, emphasizing the importance of education, resilience, and hope despite their circumstances. The atmosphere of the event was marked by joy and enthusiasm, as many children received school supplies for the first time in the academic year.

The impact of the project was significant. It enabled hundreds of children to return to school on time, improved their preparedness for learning, and restored a sense of confidence and belonging. Parents and guardians expressed gratitude to Grass 2 Grace for alleviating educational costs and demonstrating solidarity with displaced and orphaned families.

In conclusion, the 2025 September Back to School Project by Grass 2 Grace stands as a meaningful contribution to educational access and humanitarian support in Cameroon. By successfully assisting 500 orphans and IDPs, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to child welfare, education, and community empowerment.

The project highlights the critical role of grassroots humanitarian organizations in addressing educational gaps and supporting vulnerable populations toward a better future
